ALGIERS - Minister of Post and
Information and Communication
Technologies Moussa Benhamadi
said Thursday in Algiers that the lack
of liquidity at Post offices has led the
central bank to resort to the printing
new banknotes. "The Central Bank
was forced to resort to printing new
banknotes to meet a huge demand
from CCP accounts holders, although
negative impacts on inflation,"
Benhamadi told press on sidelines of the conference on colonial crimes
organized by the presidential alliance parties. In this regard, he said that
recent salary increases for employees of various bodies of the Public service
and massive back pays "caused this situation characterized by strong demand
and a lack of liquidity."
